NFSL MEMO 2006 AWARD WINNERS 6 March 2007
Mike Gwyther (North Shore United) and Kirsty Yallop (Lynn Avon United) were the big individual winners of the 2006 NFSL Awards, taking out the Premier Men’s and Premier Women’s Player of the Year awards respectively. The award capped off a great season for Gwyther, who missed most of the 2005 season after breaking his leg early in the season. Yallop also had a great year, which included leading the NZ Women’s Under 20 team in their World Cup campaign. The Young Players of the Year were Phil Edginton (East Coast Bays) and Ria Percival (Lynn Avon United).
Papatoetoe took the honours in the Team and Club Awards. They won the Northern League 2nd Division, the Youth League, the Youth Knockout Cup, Team of the Year (Under 19s) and Club of the Year. Their Under 19 coach Habib Makvandi also won Coach of the Year.
